MLB Reveals Changes to Uniforms for All-Star Game, Regular Season Beginning 2025

The MLB All-Star Game will be looking a little different starting next season.

MLB announced on Monday that players will return to wearing their primary home and road team uniforms for the Mid-Summer Classic starting with the 2025 season. Players had represented their hometown teams from the 1930s through 2019.

The league also revealed that changes are coming to overall team uniforms that "will include pant customization, increasing the sizing of the lettering and returning to previously used materials that the players requested."

A special All-Star uniform will be worn by players selected to the 2025 All-Star Game during Gatorade Workout Day and the T-Mobile Home Run Derby, though players competing in the Derby will wear their home team uniforms. MLB is collaborating with New Era on a game cap for the All-Star Game.

The decision to implement these changes was finalized over the last few days through a collaboration between MLB, Nike, Fanatics and the Major League Baseball Players Association. The changes are expected to be completely in place by the start of the 2026 season.

Prior to the 2024 campaign, MLB introduced a new Nike Vapor Premier jersey design that the league hoped would improve mobility and fit. However, the designs faced criticism early on regarding the lightweight look and smaller letters. After receiving feedback from a leaguewide survey, MLB, Nike and Fanatics partnered with the Major League Baseball Players Association to address the issues.

Due to production timelines, all uniform changes won't be completed in time for the 2025 season. It's expected that the road grey uniforms used from the 2023 fabric will be ready by Spring Training, with further progress being made throughout the year.
