Bronny James isn't expected to be selected in the first round of the 2024 NBA draft on Wednesday, but a Western Conference contender reportedly is eyeing him in the second round.

According to NBA insider Marc Stein, the Phoenix Suns "continue to be mentioned as a team with interest in drafting Bronny James, who is projected as a second-round selection in Thursday's portion of the draft."

The Suns were the only team besides the Los Angeles Lakers to have pre-draft workouts with James. His agent Rich Paul, who also represents his legendary father LeBron James, told ESPN's Jonathan Givony that despite other teams being interested in getting a look at the 19-year-old, he believes he did what's best for his client.

"Bronny is the same as my previous clients," Paul said. "I got the word out early to teams that if you plan on bringing Bronny in, here's what you need to know: If you won't give him a real deal, there's nothing to talk about. It's hard to get real development on a two-way deal. I don't care about him going to the Lakers, or Phoenix, or about what number he gets picked. It's about fit."

The Suns own the No. 22 pick in this year's draft, which is considered too high to draft the former USC Trojan. Phoenix could benefit from trading back a few times to the second round to recoup assets while still having a chance to select James.

B/R's Jonathan Wasserman predicted in his final mock draft that the Lakers will use the No. 55 pick in the second round to select James, giving him the chance to share the floor with his dad.

If the Suns are serious about drafting James, it seems like leapfrogging the Lakers will give them their best shot at landing him.
